Module D certification update

2.1.23

R.Glover Ascroft holds PPE Regulation 2016/425 Module D certification.

The PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 (and its UK based counterpart) places additional obligations on manufacturers providing Complex Design PPE. Complex Design products are so classified as they are intended to provide protection in the most demanding of workplace environments. The Regulation requires manufacturers to demonstrate that their Complex Design products are manufacturered to a consistent quality. In the language of the Regulation, this requirement is known as ensuring "conformity to type".

There are two methods to comply with this requirement: either by following a process known as Module C2, or by following a process known as Module D. The two processes offer different methods to ensure conformity to type, and R. Glover Ascroft uses the Module D process.

Module D is an annual assessment, undertaken by an independent auditor who is qualified to assess for Module D, and the product type. The audit checks the manufacturer's processes to ensure that the produced PPE is of a consistent and measurable quality. For the consumer, a Module D certified manufacturer is demonstrating conformity to type based on quality assurance of the production process. Or, to put it more simply, that the manufacturer's products will offer consistent protection in keeping with the claimed performance.

R. Glover Ascroft is one of the few PPE manufacturers to hold this standard in its own name for both protective gloves and apron products.

Following the UK's departure from the EU, Module D certification is now required for both the UK and EU markets. Certificates for both markets are available for download.
